When Rich first met Michelle, she was living with fibromyalgia – a complex condition that had left her in constant pain, fatigue, and emotional exhaustion. Her nervous system had been operating in survival mode for years, and even small amounts of stress or exertion could trigger flare-ups.
My wife and I are business owners and parents and we come up against the usual stresses and deadlines that these roles create. Stress and pressure are ever present in our lives but towards the end of 2021 they seemed to become less manageable. We needed to do something to release the pressure valve and are always looking for ways to improve our lives and general outlook.
Jeff reached a breaking point. At 62, he woke one night believing he was having a heart attack “The frightening part,” Jeff recalled, “was that I didn’t really care if I had died.”
Meditation has became my anchor in moments of difficulty, including when I faced a devastating health diagnosis, giving me clarity. Through those challenging months, it gave me the steadiness and strength I needed to keep moving forward.
From the very first session of the Vedic Meditation course, something shifted. For the first time, he experienced a glimpse of the inner world that meditation can open.
2023 brought challenges that she never saw coming – the heartbreak of a marriage breakdown, the weight of a mortgage on her own, and the shock of losing her job to redundancy just two weeks before Christmas. “I was blindsided,” she shared. “Without meditation, I would have been rocking in the corner.”
As a busy teacher and parent, he often found that the stress of the day followed him home. “I’d bring the accumulated stress from work into my interactions with my family,” he said. “I’d end up behaving in ways I later regretted.”
